Hey Fans:
My brother, Scott, is turning 39 today. In honor of his birthday and because I'm involuntarily retired, I thought I would blog about what my brother has taught me.
5. Bald is Beautiful. Why freak out, do comb-overs or wear a rug when your bald melon is sexy?
4. Do not take the training wheels off your bike to compete with your brother. If he learns to ride a bike first, except it. Don't try to beat him - it will only end with you missing a few teeth and wondering why your crotch hurts so bad from the boy-bike you were riding.
3. Sucking up to teachers leads to good grades. Scott actually convinced my grandparents to give him $10,000 for straight A's in his senior year of high school. He accomplished this by studying, but his flattery skills helped enormously. BTW, he got the money...
2. Using a sled-shaped coffee table to slide down a grass hill is not a good idea - especially on the night before your wedding and you have been drinking. Trust me - nothing good can come from that.
1. Being a good father to 3 beautiful girls is the epitomy of being a man. Scott, I couldn't have asked for a better brother...ok, actually I did and got Steve, but you are tops in my book!

FINALLY - A Post!!!
Great Hockey!!! Holy Cow, kids....what a great hockey game (January 7th)!
What a nice change from hanging out in Portland watching the Tips lose 4-0 then going to NoWhere Center in Kent to watch that game...
Portland - it was one of those things - it was vacation (mine permanent - Randy's temporary) and we headed down to the Rose City. It started out good - first period - no score and the Tips looked pretty good. Then it all went to hell in a handbasket. Not only was the game bad - those Portland Winterhawks fans HATE us in Everett. Really, Portland? Have you ever played Seattle? Those fans are total asshats! Anyway, someone ripped off Leo's line "Hey - what's the score?" asking those of us Tips fans....I got a lil annoyed and finally asked them where they hung their championship banners from this century....luckily all 10 Winterhawks fans are pretty heavy so I didn't have to run very fast...
Kent - Say what ya want, but it's a pretty bare bones Center. Since it's a purpose built arena (FOR HOCKEY) it made no sense that their scoreboard was a basketball scoreboard...no place to track shots on goal....really? Do they expect the ancient Harlem Globetrotters to play there weekly? The lightshow - oh the lightshow - and I thought Everett's sucked....they handed out 500 laser pointer keychains and dimmed the lights for 2 frickin minutes and had a 'do it yourself' lightshow...and guess what - Seattle still sucks - their fans suck - and they are still gonna suck in Kent just like they did in Seattle.
Everett v. Tri-Cities - After FINALLY getting the game going at 8:30 pm - WAY past Bill and Tina's bedtime - we finally saw a great goalie - a team that played together - and a stunned Tri-Cities team.
Let me address the Beach and Alexander trade: it's a good thing. Beach is a good player - and I've enjoyed watching his flashes of brilliance but his attitude has caused the officials to follow him and call penalities for everything from untied skates to fighting - penalities that end up costing us games. I hope they both do well in Lethbridge and look forward to seeing them on Laurakah 2009.
Other Notes:
Laurakah is coming, kids! This year, by popular demand, Laurakah has been expanded to 14 days from 8! Be sure to check back for details and plans - including a blog on "Why I Was Fired" and "Planning for Laurakah - A Guide to Shopping" and "Pacing Yourself through Laurakah".
I'm looking forward to Prince George Cougars v. Silvertips tonight!!!
